Private bonfire sites are available to rent with at least 24 hours advance notice.
Each bonfire site includes two wooden benches, one picnic table, one serving table and a trash receptacle. Guests may bring additional seating if they wish. Guests also need to provide their own roasting sticks and may bring food items they wish to roast. Please keep in mind that there are no electrical outlets at our bonfire sites. If guests would like to bring in additional homemade items, they need to be non-hazardous food items (i.e. NO potato salads, coleslaws, etc.) since food would be out in the elements. Alcohol is also not permitted.
The $25.00 rental is for a three hour time increment. Times available are: 10am - 1pm, 1pm - 4pm or 4pm - 7pm Mondays-Saturdays AND 11am-2pm, 2pm-5pm and 5pm - close on Sundays. Due to the popularity of the bonfire sites, we advise booking a site WELL in advance of your function. Bonfires reserved during our busisest weekends (Sept. 26 & 27, Oct. 3 & 4, Oct. 10 & 11, Oct. 17 & 18, Oct. 24 & 25) require full payment at the time of your reservation due to high demand. Contact us to book your bonfire today at or call us at 319.470.1558. Cancellations need to be made 48 hours in advance in order to receive a full refund or a refund will be given due to inclement weather.
Don't want to haul your own food to the farm? "Weiner Boxes" are available for $5.00 for our guests who reserve a bonfire. Each box contains a hot dog and condiments, one bag of chips, all the fixin's for one 'smore and a drink (juice box for kids and bottled water for adults). Guests are also welcome to purchase food, drinks, and treats from "The Pitchfork Cafe," as well. Our fall menu ranges from hot dogs, pulled pork sandwiches, walking tacos, nachos, etc. Click HERE to view our current menu.
Some things to think about prior to reserving a bonfire site: The fall season can be a damp one. Even though it may be rainy at times in the morning, that afternoon and/or early evening can be perfect campfire weather. That is why we go ahead with most campfires even when the day starts with rain showers. Sometimes rain does continue for the entire day and those are the days that we encourage you to re-schedule. Also, during the months of September and October, wind can tend to be quite an issue here at the farm, which quickly becomes a safety concern. If strong winds are a factor on your reserved day, you will be contacted in ample time to reschedule.
